About Bia

In 2018, Bia released the single “Cota Não É Esmola” a performance that went viral, accumulated millions of views on YouTube, and later had its lyrics required reading in official programmes at the University of Brasília. In the same year, he participated in numerous important projects and festivals. In 2022, she participated in WOMEX, the world's leading music fair, presenting contemporary Brazilian music to a global audience. Between 2023 and 2024, she performed more than 100 shows in over 16 countries (the Americas, Europe, and Africa), consolidating her international presence and engaging different audiences with her performances and artistic discourse. Bia Ferreira has built a consistent discography, where music and artivism go hand in hand: • “Ao Vivo” (2018) – an intense recording of her live performance. • “Igreja Lesbiteriana, Um Chamado” (2019) – debut album that powerfully expresses her artistic and political vision. • “Faminta” (2022) – second album that broadens her artistic and narrative reach. • “Améfrica” to be released in 2026 In addition to these works, Bia has released several singles that reinforce her social themes, such as “Filosofia”, “De Dentro do AP”, “Aquela Moça” and “Dois Dedin”. Bia's music and message quickly spread beyond Brazil's borders: She has toured Europe, United States and North America since 2017, performing solo and with her band at major festivals and cultural centres. In 2026 new album “Améfrica” came out May 29!

An Artivist in Contemporary Brazilian Music

Bia Ferreira is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and artivist who has distinguished herself as one of the most powerful voices in the contemporary Latin American music scene. Her art spans music, activism and politics, creating sound discourses that confront structural racism, LGBTphobia, black feminism, love and community affections through a critical and sensitive aesthetic. Bia began her musical studies as a child: She started playing the piano at the age of 3, in church and later at the Brazilian Conservatory of Music. Music has always been central to her life. As a multi-instrumentalist, she deepened her passion for the guitar, double bass, cavaquinho, atabaque and drums and many more. At the age of 12, she wrote her first composition — a defining moment in her relationship with identity, gender and religion. Bia defines her work as Contemporary Brazilian Music, concepts that place her work as a political and social expression of marginalized bodies and that stem from her own experience. Musically, her work blends elements of soul, blues, reggae, funk, R&B, rap, and references to Brazilian music, dialoguing with Afro- diasporic traditions and languages. Her lyrics are anchored in what critics call escrevivência — writing- living that combines autobiography and social criticism, a concept linked to the writer Conceição Evaristo.
